I do. Just this week I sat in a ministry meeting with five women whom I love, admire, and know love the Lord. They are smart, wise, filled with the Holy Spirit, beautiful, talented, and love ministry. And then there is me.
I’m usually confident with my role on this team and confident in the truth that God loves me and has chosen me.
Note the word – usually.
On this day, usually had turned into definitely not. I was adjusting my jewelry, straightening my shirt, smoothing my jeans, and wiggling in my seat. I was most certainly not confident in my own skin, and the more that was said in the discussion about our roles in the upcoming women’s conference, the more I felt – unworthy.
Lies began to echo in my mind.
I was certain I was the fat, ugly girl in the room. Sure that I wasn’t being asked to speak because others felt I had nothing to say. I was allowing the enemy to whisper those lies into my mind. Lies that told me I was worthless, unworthy, lazy, unwanted, not good enough, not thin enough, not smart enough.
I walked out feeling defeated.
But praise the Lord, one of my dear sisters in ministry who was sitting in that meeting abided by a prompting of the Holy Spirit and sent me a text. She said I looked pretty. She told me I always look put together.
And then came the truth that awakened my heart.
She said it was time to “own” who I really am. That meant owning whose I am!
God’s word is filled with truth, and it was apparent my time had to come to create a list of scripture that I need to hold onto. A list to print out and keep with me; a list that needs to be memorized and shared with all of the women who, like me, begin to believe the lies of the enemy.
It’s time to embrace who God says I am!
- Created by Him: Psalm 139:13
- Loved with an everlasting love: Jeremiah 31:3
- His workmanship: Ephesians 2:10
- Filled with the fullness of God: Ephesians 3:19
- God’s family: Ephesians 2:19
- Purchased by Christ: 1 Corinthians 6:20
- Blameless: Psalm 18:25
- Chosen: 1 Peter 2:9
- Forgiven: Psalm 103:12
- Redeemed: Ephesians 1:7
- Free: Galatians 4:7
- Victorious: 1 Corinthians 15:57
Dear One, are you too listening to the whispers of the enemy and feeling like you are not enough? Well, stop listening to him and start proclaiming God’s truth! You are HIS! He created you and you were chosen by Him. He loves you and has a purpose for you.
Listen to those lies no longer!
Live in the truth of God’s word, and the truth will set you free! You ARE worthy!
