In the peace of the evening, I sit on the bed listening to my snoring husband and puppy dog as I reflect on the goodness of God. From Isaiah 40:28-31 I find out much about my God.
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not grow faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. Isaiah 40:28
He is everlasting – forever, eternal, will always remain until the end of eternity.
He is Creator of the ends of the earth. Some call him the Ancient of Days. He has always been God, forever been present, and has created every single human, creature, microscopic organism and speck of dust.
He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted. But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:29-31
He is: Provider, power, strength, and renewed of all. Never growing tired or weak.
He is Lord! And for his children who wait patiently for him, he will one day renew their strength – my strength!
One day the Lord will let us run, never growing tired and worn. One he will allow us to walk without ever again feeling faint.
John MacArthur says in the ESV Study Bible “…patient, praying believers are blessed by God with strength in their trials.”
My Lord has and continues to carry me through the deepest and darkest of valleys with stamina and strength. He celebrates with me on the mountain tops, and lifts me up from the pits of despair.
He is my everlasting God. Without him I would be forever lost.
