The “I Will” Bible Study Tip That Helps Reveal God’s Promises

Coffee, books and study notesYou find yourself reading and re-reading and still wondering what are the key parts of a scripture passage that you should hold onto? Even greater is the question, how on earth do I find them?

Try using the I Will Bible study tip.

What on earth is the I will tip? It is taking a passage of scripture, such as, John chapter 14, and drawing a box around each time in the passage you read the words “I will”.

Why on earth would I do that?

I will most often a precursor to a promise from God. These are vitally important realizations for God’s children to recognize and receive. In John 14, there are no fewer than 9 I will promises made by Jesus, in addition to several, he will promises.

This means that in a short 31 verses of scripture, Jesus makes 9 promises to believers. 9 beautiful nuggets of hope and joy that should fill our hearts.

Here’s the List of 9 I will Nuggets

  • And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again Picture of Highlighted Bible pagesand I will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. John 14:3

  • Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do , that the father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:13

  • If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. John 14:14

  • John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper to be with you forever.

  •  I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. John 14:18

  • Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him. John 14:21

  • I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming He has no claim on me. John 14:30

Take a moment to consider all the promises Jesus made to those who believe in Him and the Father. Jesus will go and prepare a place for us. He will return and take us with Him so that we will never be apart.

Jesus tells us repeatedly that whatever we ask in His name, He will do. And what He does will bring glory to God. He will never leave us. While He goes to prepare that place for us, He has asked God to leave us with a helper. That Helper is the Holy Spirit. And because the Holy Spirit lives in us, we are never alone.

Do you see those promises?

They stand out in scripture because we slowed down and took time to examine the I will statements, and to then soak in them.

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that you will speak to me each time I read your Holy Word. Lord guide me through the scriptures and reveal yourself and your message to my heart. Illuminate the plans and the paths that you have laid out for me. Lord, when I am fearful or worried, let me never forget that I am not alone. For your Spirit is always with me. Let me never forget to seek you first when I am in need, and to always glorify You in all that I say and do. Amen.
