Bible Study, Encouragement

Thanks and Giving

Turkey and all of the fixings, or maybe Black Friday shopping are all of the thoughts that have overtaken your minds right now. I want to encourage you not to lose sight of the reason for Thanksgiving. We are to give thanks!

Yes, it’s important to be thankful for our families, and thankful for the provisions God has heaped upon us all year. But the greatest blessing I want to celebrate this Thanksgiving is my Savior, Jesus Christ!

I know it’s going to be a busy week for many of you. It’s truly no exception here at Andrews’ Central! We’ve been rearranging rooms, cleaning carpets, and brainstorming what our meal with entail. I’ve been preparing for my sweet big kids and grand baby to come into town, and my son is home from college and dealing with a neck injury. Life never stops, but I rejoice in the fact that God never stops either!

I want to encourage you not to lose sight of the Lord in this coming week. It’s easy to neglect prayer and Bible study time and replace it with grocery store runs and cleaning. Let me say, “Don’t do it!” Satan wants nothing more than for you to take your eyes off of God and make other things in your life more important. To help keep you on track this week, I’ve created a list of Psalms of Thanksgiving (just click to download) I want to challenge you to read! Most days are only one verse, others may have a few, but it’s certainly an attainable challenge!

Don’t feel like you have to read all of them, but I encourage you to try. This Thanksgiving I pray that you will live Psalm 136:1 “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever.”

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!
