Peace – Advent Day 15

Today’s post is unlike the norm for Encourage Her Ministry. As I began studying our passage in “Unwrap the Joy” for Day 15, I became overwhelmed by the message in Matthew 2:1-6. This is SO rich with meaning and led me Micah5:2. But it didn’t stop there. I traveled to several other passages in God’s Word as a result of Micah 5:2.

As I prepared to write today’s message to you I discovered I would be far too long winded to explain all that God has shown me. Rather, I prepared a series of bullet points to help guide you through my study findings. I hope this will encourage you to do some reading and studying of your own. I’d love to hear what you learn!

•Prophecy told us that a great Ruler would come from Bethlehem. This was fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

•Bethlehem means “House of Bread” Ephrathah means “fruitful; abundance.”

•Both names also elude to the fertility of the region.

•A scripture to review in connection with this first part of verse 2 is Genesis 48:7.

•Verse 2 says “…though you are little…” the city of Bethlehem is small in population yet large in importance. Christ would be born there!

•We see “The One to be Ruler in Israel,” Ruler in this passage means “Shiloh; Prince of Peace”; THE Ruler would be peace. Specifically The Prince of Peace.

•This connects with Genesis 49:10, Isaiah 9:6 and 2 Samuel 23:3

•The next line in verse 2 says, “Whose goings forth are from of old” Meaning from the very beginning. Reference Revelation 22:13

•The final line of verse 2 says, “From everlasting.” The Ruler, The Prince of Peace, who is the beginning and the end has eternal genealogy.

I encourage you to take time to read Micah 5:2 and the additional scriptures presented and press in to the Holy Spirit for the exciting truths He reveals to you!
