Do you ever find yourself reading scripture and becoming entirely overwhelmed by the way that God loves you?
One of my favorite books of the Bible is Ephesians. I love how God lays out of the incredible love he has for us and the promises he rains down over his children?
Ephesians 2:4-10 is one of the passages that takes my breath away. It is an amazing love letter that tells each one of us how we deserve nothing, but by God’s great love we have everything.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved – and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show us immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in your own doing, it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (ESV)

Here is my personalized version:
My God is rich in mercy and because of his great love for me, even when I was dead in my sin, he made me alive with Christ. I am saved by God’s grace, and he has raised me up with him and seated me with him in the heavenly places because I am in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show me immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward me. This is a gift from God. It is not a result of my works and that keeps me from boasting. I am his workmanship, created by his hands, created in Christ Jesus for the good works that God prepared for me before he created me. In Christ, I will walk in them.
Do you see the fantastic promises of God clearly? It is only by his love, mercy, and kindness we are saved in Christ Jesus.
It’s by our faith alone and God’s grace alone.
We can’t work our way to heaven, but as a result of our transformed lives and being filled with Christ, we demonstrate good works – through the love of Christ.
In Christ, God’s glory is on display. Because of His great gift, you are saved, regenerated, justified, adopted, sanctified, transformed, loved, blessed and will be glorified for all of eternity.
In Christ, I am alive!
