“I Am, In Christ” Chosen, Forgiven and Loved (Day 12)

Do you have a tendency to hold a grudge? Do you walk around bitter and angry toward people because of something someone said or did to you?

You are called by God to let it go! He calls you His chosen and holy daughter, not because of anything we have ever done, but because of His amazing grace.

Colossians 3:12-13 sums up what Hod expects us to do perfectly. “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness and patience, bearing with one another and if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive.”

“Put on then…” is a call to change your heart and your attitude as a result of what Christ did for us on the cross.

This new attitude is no longer filled with anger and resentment, but with new emotions of compassion, kindness, having a fully dependent life resting in God, having a new and gentle spirit, being slow to anger and forgiving.

Forgiving is about following Christ’s model and believe me when I say I know how difficult it is to forgive when someone has hurt you deeply. But I also know that letting go of that anger and bitterness is life changing. It is freeing!

Forgiveness isn’t an option. Why? As a chosen daughter of God who had been declared holy and beloved by Him, I have been fully and eternally forgiven. Now I must fully reflect Christ for others – forgiveness included.

    1. Amen. I had a long, difficult struggle with forgiving my Dad before he passed for a lifetime of emotional abuse. The freedom I experience now is miraculous!! I pray you find strength for forgiveness.
